Medical Assistance Transportation Program

Medical Assistance Transportation Program (MATP)

If you receive Medical Assistance from the Department of Welfare, you may be eligible for transportation to medical appointments on BARTA Special Services. Passengers who receive Medical Assistance and are able to ride BARTA Buses are eligible for a bus pass when they ride to medical appointments on the regular BARTA bus system.  To see if you qualify for Medical Assistance please contact BARTA Special Services at 610-921-2361, Toll Free @ 1-800-892-1122 or click on the link to review the guidelines.

For individuals who are hearing impaired, BARTA encourages customers to use the PA Relay Service.  The service can be accessed by calling 711, free of charge.

In addition to filling out the Medical Assistance Application, if you have a disability that prevents you from riding BARTA’s regular bus routes and are under 65 it is recommended that you fill out the ADA Application. in addition to the Medical Assistance application.

If you are 18 – 64 years of age it is recommended that you also fill out the PWD Application

If you are over 65 years of age, it is recommended that you also fill out the Senior Shared-ride Application
