BARTA operates fixed route bus service for residents of Berks County and shared ride paratransit services for seniors and persons with disabilities who need this type of service. In 2011 and 2012, BARTA conducted a comprehensive analysis of its fixed route bus system and its shared ride paratransit service. The results of this comprehensive analysis and recommended service plans were presented in two final reports. One report dated April 19, 2012, focused on the fixed route bus service, and the second report dated June 11, 2012, focused on the shared ride paratransit service.
